The China Overseas Chinese Investment (Guangdong) Conference is expected to be a bridge connecting China with overseas Chinese, according to Yan Ke, Party chief of the Guangdong Province Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.
The conference, to be held in Guangzhou on Friday and Saturday will introduce the investment climate and economic construction achievements of the Chinese mainland to the overseas Chinese attending the event, said Yan, who is also president of the federation.
Speaking at a news conference in Guangzhou on Tuesday, she said the conference “is expected to attract more overseas Chinese to join hands in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the country’s high-quality development. It will also help bring more win-win cooperation projects to be signed between mainland companies and overseas Chinese”.
Around 600 overseas Chinese, officials and business representatives from more than 130 nations and regions will attend the event, which will take place at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center.
The event is jointly hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Guangdong province. Special lectures and seminars will be held to boost exchanges and cooperation between mainland and overseas Chinese business representatives.
Meanwhile participants will be organized to visit Guangzhou, Shaoguan, Huizhou, Shanwei, Zhongshan, Shantou and major cities in Guangdong province, starting their investment inspection tours and trade and business talks.
Guangdong alone has more than 30 million overseas Chinese, living in more than 160 countries and regions around the world. The number of overseas Chinese with ties to Guangdong represents more than 50 percent of the country’s total.
