Different types of foreigners have different conditions for applying for permanent residence in China and different requirements for residence time. The details are as follows:
-Investment category: requires continuous direct investment in China for 3 years, with stable investment situation and good tax records; The actual registered capital paid for investment needs to meet a certain amount requirement (investment in encouraged industries in the “Catalogue of Industries for Guiding Foreign Investment” issued by the state totaling more than 500000 US dollars; investment in western China and key counties for poverty alleviation and development work totaling more than 500000 US dollars; investment in central China totaling more than 1 million US dollars; or investment in China totaling more than 2 million US dollars).
-Occupation category: Under the premise of meeting the conditions of the employing unit (institutions affiliated with various departments of the State Council or provincial people’s governments; key universities; enterprises and institutions implementing national key engineering projects or major scientific research projects; high-tech enterprises, encouraged foreign-invested enterprises, foreign-invested advanced technology enterprises, or foreign-invested product export enterprises), one must hold the position of deputy general manager, deputy factory director or above in China, or have deputy senior professional titles such as associate professor, associate researcher or above, and enjoy equal treatment. They must have served continuously for at least 4 years, have resided in China for a cumulative period of not less than 3 years within 4 years, and have a good tax record.
-Spouse group clustering: Applicants must be Chinese citizens or spouses of foreign nationals who have obtained permanent residency in China, have a marriage relationship of at least 5 years, have resided continuously in China for at least 5 years and have resided for no less than 9 months per year, and have stable living security and residence.
-Clustering of children: One or both parents are Chinese citizens (with permanent registered residence registration in China) or foreigners with permanent residence qualification in China, who are under 18 years old and unmarried, and have foreign nationality after nationality verification. At present, there is no official requirement for residence time for applicants in the family reunion category, but some cities may have certain residence time requirements.
-Relatives seeking refuge: Elderly people who are over 60 years old, have no direct relatives overseas, seek refuge with direct relatives within the country, have resided in China continuously for at least 5 years and for no less than 9 months per year, and have stable living security and residence.
