Generally, the visa extension for foreigners cannot be handled on the same day. But in some specific situations or regions, there may be situations where it is completed on the same day.
For example, during the 6th China International Import Expo, the Overseas Personnel Service Station of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau’s China International Exhibition Center provided visa extension services for foreign exhibitors. After submitting business invitation letters and temporary accommodation registration materials, the process of window acceptance, material upload, backend approval, visa production, and other procedures could be completed in less than half an hour, achieving on-site issuance of certificates.
From the conventional visa extension process, it usually takes a certain amount of time. For example, in the preparation and submission of application materials, relevant departments need to review the materials, and if necessary, verify the authenticity of the application reasons through face-to-face interviews, telephone inquiries, on-site investigations, and other methods. If the application materials are incomplete or there are problems, and additional or revised materials are needed, it will extend the processing time. Moreover, the approval process may also be affected by factors such as application volume and workload, and generally takes several days to weeks or even months.
