Entry and exit aspects
-Limit of residence period: after the expiration, the holder will no longer enjoy the privilege of unlimited residence period in China, and must go through residence procedures such as visas according to the provisions of ordinary foreigners, and the residence period will be subject to corresponding restrictions.
-Loss of entry and exit convenience: The convenience of freely entering and leaving the Chinese border with a valid passport and permanent residence permit will no longer exist, and corresponding visas or other permits need to be reapplied for each entry and exit.
Employment and Entrepreneurship
-The issue of work permit: The privilege of exemption from applying for an Alien Employment Permit for employment in China is no longer applicable, and a new application for an employment permit is required. If one had previously applied for the Foreign Expert Certificate, the Returning Expert Certificate, and the Work and Residence Permit for local talents based on their permanent residence permit, these documents may also be affected or even become invalid.
-Entrepreneurship approval restrictions: When establishing foreign-invested enterprises through technology investment or other means, relevant departments will no longer simplify the approval and approval procedures according to relevant regulations on foreign investment management, but will follow the approval process of ordinary foreign-invested enterprises, which may increase the approval time and difficulty.
In terms of children’s education
-Compulsory education stage: When their accompanying children enroll in compulsory education stage, they may no longer be able to enjoy the benefits of being processed by the education administrative department of their place of residence according to the principle of nearest enrollment and not charging fees other than those stipulated by the state. They may need to follow the relevant regulations for the enrollment of ordinary foreign children, facing more complex enrollment procedures and the possibility of paying additional fees.
-Higher education stage: For the higher education stage, some conveniences or special policies that may have been enjoyed will no longer apply, and students need to apply for admission according to the enrollment policies of ordinary foreign students.
Social Security and Housing
-Changes in social security benefits: Those who have already participated in social insurance may be affected, such as those employed within China, and their eligibility and payment standards may need to be reassessed; Those who reside in China but are not employed may no longer be able to participate in the basic medical insurance for urban residents and the social pension insurance for urban residents in China, and enjoy social insurance benefits.
-Housing provident fund restrictions: The eligibility to deposit and use housing provident fund at the workplace may be revoked, and there may be difficulties in withdrawing or transferring housing provident fund when leaving the area.
Finance and Consumption
-Financial business processing: When handling financial services such as banking, insurance, securities, and futures in China, permanent residence permits can no longer be used as identity documents to enjoy the same rights, obligations, and statistical ownership as Chinese citizens. More proof materials may need to be provided or different business processing requirements may be faced.
-Cancellation of consumer discounts: When shopping, purchasing tickets for parks and various cultural and sports venues, and engaging in cultural, entertainment, and business travel activities in China, it may no longer be possible to enjoy the same treatment and price discounts as Chinese citizens, but will be charged according to the standards of ordinary foreign personnel.
