Part of the foreign teachers in international schools can be considered as foreign talents, and usually apply for Z or R visas:

Visa type
-Z visa: If you are a foreign teacher in the general teaching field, you generally need to apply for a Z visa (professional visa). This is a visa issued by the Chinese government for foreign nationals who come to China for long-term (90 days or more) teaching, lecturing, collaborative research, and academic exchanges.
-Visa R: If the foreign teachers of international schools meet the standards of “high quality and top quality” and market demand oriented scientists, science and technology leaders, international entrepreneurs, professionals and highly skilled talents, they can apply for a foreign talent visa (Visa R).

Talent recognition
-Foreign high-end talents (Class A): If foreign teachers from international schools are selected for the domestic talent introduction plan, such as those recognized by the talent management department at or above the deputy provincial level approved or recorded by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs; Or meet internationally recognized professional achievement recognition standards, such as Nobel laureates, Turing Award winners, etc; Or publish multiple papers as first author or corresponding author in international high-level scientific journals; Those who have previously held middle-level or above management positions in high-level universities abroad, or have been hired as professors or associate professors, can be recognized as foreign high-end talents.
-Foreign professional talents (Class B): Foreign teachers from international schools usually have a bachelor’s degree or above, 2 years or more of relevant work experience, and are not over 60 years old; Foreign language teaching personnel who hold internationally recognized vocational skills qualification certificates, such as TEFL or TESOL certificates, are generally recognized as foreign professional talents.
