Under what circumstances will new valid vis a not be issued to a foreigner?

The Exit and Entry Administration of the public security organ shall not approve the extension, replacement or reissuance of visas or residence permits or issue stay permits to foreigners under any of the following circumstances:

Those who cannot provide application materials in accordance with regulations (for example, Chinese nationals of foreign origin need to provide household registration cancellation certificate materials for visa renewal);

Resorting to fraud in the process of application (providing untrue materials and information or making false statements to conceal personal information);

Those who, in violation of relevant Chinese laws and administrative regulations, are not fit to stay or reside in China (illegally residing, working or entering China, etc.);

Other circumstances in which it is not appropriate to approve the extension, replacement or reissue of a visa or residence permit or issue a stay permit.

Supporting materials required for visa extension

To apply for extension of the duration of stay, aliens shall apply to the exit/entry administration of the public security bureau 7 days prior to the expiration of the duration of stay indicated in the visa, and submit relevant application supporting materials as required:

The C visa holder shall submit the certificate issued by the competent department of the people’s government at or above the county level or the local transport company of civil aviation, railway, highway, port, etc. The stay can be extended for up to 30 days.

F visa holders shall submit the certificate issued by the invitation and reception unit. A unit that has not filed a record shall also submit a certificate of registration. The stay can be extended for up to 180 days.

Holders of M visa shall submit the certificate letter issued by the local inviting and receiving units or individuals, and the units that have not put on record shall also submit the registration certificate. If the partner is an individual, the letter issued by the partner shall be signed and the certificate of local permanent residence or the certificate of actual residence shall be submitted. The stay can be extended for up to 180 days.

The holder of Q2 visa shall submit the letter, identity certificate and family relationship certificate issued by the person being visited. The stay can be extended for up to 180 days.

Holders of R-visa shall submit letters certifying the invitation and reception units, and the units that have not put on record shall also submit registration certificates. The stay can be extended for up to 180 days.

X2 visa holders should submit a letter of study certification issued by education and training institutions in China. The stay can be extended for up to 180 days. If the duration of stay is extended, the cumulative duration of stay shall not exceed that originally indicated in the visa.
