However, during the application process, many people encountered situations such as needing to provide additional materials, failing the interview, or having their application materials rejected. Today, we will share with you some of the most common reasons for visa application failures.
1. Incorrect filling of visa application form
When applying for a visa, the application form is the most important document as it serves as the basis for consular officers to decide whether to grant you a visa. Inaccurate information such as spelling errors, incorrect passport numbers, or invalid addresses may result in your visa being denied.
2. I applied for the wrong visa category
This is one of the most common mistakes people make when filling out visa application forms. It is very important to select the appropriate visa category in the application form and submit the appropriate documents. The requirements for different visa categories vary. Carefully read and understand the scope of application of each visa, and then fill in the visa category. Submit appropriate documents by category. (For example, when applying for a family visit visa, if you want to apply for Q1 (which can be converted into a long-term residence permit), but the prepared materials are for applying for Q2, which requires you to revise and resubmit the application materials.)
3. The submitted photos do not meet the specifications
Inappropriate size, background color, and texture of the photo paper can all result in photos that are not up to standard.

5. Economic dominance is tight
Another reason for occasional rejection is that the applicant does not meet the financial requirements for cross-border travel, which means you need sufficient funds to cover your travel expenses, living expenses, and all expenses incurred by accompanying family members during your stay in China.
6. From turbulent regions and countries
Applicants from countries with frequent wars, terrorist attacks, political instability, or countries with frequently overdue visas in domestic data statistics, or countries with very tense relations with China, may have an increased chance of visa rejection.
7. The applicant has a criminal record
Having a criminal record does not mean that all applications will be rejected. But if the applicant commits a very serious crime, the possibility of visa refusal will greatly increase. And minor offenses usually don’t have much impact, especially when you’re just applying for a tourist visa.
8. Poor past visa records
The applicant has either overstayed their visa in China during the pandemic or been blacklisted in any country.
9. The applicant has poor health condition
The applicant has some kind of infectious disease. In most cases, only a small portion of short-term visa applications such as tourist visas and business visas are rejected due to their special circumstances. But for work visas or student visas, this may be an issue, although there is no clear legal regulation. (e.g. this new coronavirus)
10. Engage in sensitive occupations
Applicants working in religious or military industries may have a higher visa rejection rate.
