Foreigners without jobs may apply for permanent residence permits for foreigners, but it is relatively difficult.
1、 If the foreigner marries a Chinese citizen, their marriage has been in existence for at least five years, they have resided continuously in China for at least five years, and have a stable living guarantee and residence in China for no less than nine months each year, they can apply for a permanent residence permit for spousal reunion. In this case, even if there is no job, as long as one can prove stable living security, there is a chance to obtain a permanent residence permit.
2、 For unmarried children under the age of 18 who seek refuge with their parents, have no direct relatives overseas, seek refuge with direct relatives within the country, and are over 60 years old, have resided in China continuously for at least five years, reside in China for no less than nine months per year, and have stable living security and residence, foreign nationals can also apply for a permanent residence permit, but do not necessarily need to have a job.
In addition, foreigners who have made significant and outstanding contributions to China and are in special need of the country can also apply for permanent residence qualification after being recommended by the relevant competent department of the state, the provincial people’s government or the administrative department of the key development regions of the country, and there is no requirement to have a job here.
