Chinese work visas and reunion visas cannot be processed together. The nature, purpose, application requirements, and process of these two types of visas are completely different:
1. In terms of nature and purpose:
-Work visa: It is a visa that allows foreigners to work legally in China. It is issued based on the employment relationship, so that foreigners can work in specific employers in China. For example, a foreign engineer is hired by a technology company in China and the company applies for a work visa for him so that he can carry out engineering and technical work in China.
-Reunion visa: it is issued to foreigners who need to stay in China due to family reunion. It is issued on the basis of kinship, and it is to facilitate the gathering of foreign relatives with their relatives in China. For example, foreign spouses, parents, children, etc. of Chinese citizens apply for reunion visas to come to China to reunite with their relatives.
2. In terms of application requirements:
-Work visa: There are requirements for both the applicant and the employer. Applicants generally need to be at least 18 years old, in good health, possess the required education, professional skills, and work experience for the job, and comply with Chinese laws and regulations. Employers must comply with relevant laws and regulations, provide genuine job positions, and offer salary and benefits that comply with regulations.
-Reunion visa: Applicants need to have a clear relationship with their relatives in China, such as providing marriage certificates for spousal relationships, and providing birth certificates or proof of family relationships for children and parents.
3. In terms of application process:
-Work visa: The employer first applies for the Alien Employment Permit for the foreigner, then the foreigner can apply for the occupation visa at the Chinese embassies and consulates abroad with this permit and other relevant materials, and then apply for the Alien Employment Permit and residence permit after entry.
-Reunion visa: Applicants need to provide proof of their relationship with relatives in China, invitation letters, and other materials to apply for a visa from Chinese embassies and consulates abroad. After entering the country, according to the requirements of visa type and duration of stay, corresponding residence procedures may need to be processed.
However, if a foreigner already holds a reunion visa in China and subsequently finds a job and meets the application conditions for a work visa, he or she can convert the reunion visa into a work visa in China. But this is a phased process, rather than processing two types of visas at the same time.
