Generally, the public security organ shall decide whether to approve or disapprove an alien’s application for permanent residence in China within six months from the date of acceptance.
If the applicant is in China, he/she can usually obtain the Alien Permanent Residence Permit from the public security organ that accepts his/her application within 30 days after being approved; If the applicant is abroad, the Ministry of Public Security will issue a Confirmation Form of Foreigner’s Permanent Residence Status, and the applicant will go to the Chinese embassies and consulates abroad to apply for the “d” visa with the confirmation form. Within 30 days after entering the country, the applicant will obtain the Foreigner’s Permanent Residence Card from the public security organ that accepts the application.
